Geoff Long was an unlikely looking footballer who was renowned throughout Australia as a champion Centre Half Forward during the 1950s. He played in three Australian Carnivals in 1953, 1956 and 1958 and is one of the true greats of the City-South Football Club and the NTFA. Long was a regular Tasmania representative and multiple premiership player whose playing career highlight was being named All Australian in 1956. Following his retirement Geoff Long continued to serve football for two decades as a coach, selector and administrator and was recognised nationally in 1979 for his service to Tasmanian and Australian football.
