Grant Allford debuted for Latrobe in 1968 as a 17-year-old and was best first year player based on Wander Medal votes. Following a playing career in both the VFL and Tasmania, Allford continued his contribution as a playing coach at amateur and country level and has since been a commentator with WIN TV. He was also involved in development work with the Tassie Mariners and Tasmanian Devils from 1995 to 2006.
