Mike Delanty debuted as a 16-year-old in the much vaunted City combination of the early 1950s, securing premierships in 1954 and 1956. After leaving City he became a successful key position player in the Collingwood premiership team of 1958. He also played in Collingwood’s losing grand final team of 1960 and North Melbourne’s night premiership-winning team of 1965. Delanty was described as a rugged and fearless defender with the ability to mark safely under pressure.
