Andy Lovell was known as ‘Chopper’, due to his father’s career as a world champion wood-chopper. He was a hard working midfielder who was unexpectedly traded to West Coast. Lovell was runner-up in Melbourne’s best and fairest award in 1992. He went on to enjoy coaching at AFL and VFL level with Sandringham.
