Les Fyle’s career in football administration commenced at club level with New Town where he was the president responsible for the return of Roy Cazaly as coach and a successful period in the post-war era. His greatest achievements for the game were in umpiring where his service as president of the Tasmanian Football League Umpires Association (TFLUA) is without parallel. As well, his goal to have Tasmanian umpires officiating at all Tasmanian football league finals games was finally achieved in 1974.
