Bill Atwell’s first career in football was as a commentator during Tasmanian football’s ‘golden period’ on Hobart radio. His voice became synonymous with the game in southern Tasmania, covering all TFL and other major intrastate and interstate football.
Following retirement from radio Atwell became the first general manager for the Clarence Football Club. His service was pivotal in ensuring the success of the club off the field as they entered their second golden era in the 1990s’ statewide league.
