An instrumental person in the formation of district football in southern Tasmania after the Second World War, Ted Turner became a household name amongst football followers on the eastern shore of Hobart with his beloved Clarence District Football Club. His role and interest also included the formation of junior football programs on the eastern shore. Turner was at the helm when Clarence won their first TFL premiership in 1970 and was instrumental in recruiting Stuart Spencer and John Bingley to Clarence.
