Scott Jeffery is the epitome of the modern Tasmanian umpire. Having commenced as a junior with the Tasmanian Football Umpires he was identified to progress to the TAC Cup program in 1995. By 1997 he had umpired his first senior Tasmanian statewide grand final and then transferred to Melbourne to try his hand in the VFL. Success followed and he was appointed to the VFL grand final in 1999. He was the first Tasmanian appointed to the AFL panel in 2000 and was named VFL Umpire of the Year in 2001. In 2004 he was named umpire in Tasmania’s Team of the Century.
